Your Responsibilities

Most multi-level buildings have lifts and elevators and maintaining and servicing these on a regular basis is vital to ensure that they function safely and correctly with limited Out of Service time.

Depending on the frequency of use, maintenance may range from occasional service checks performed on a six monthly basis or in the case of high-use lifts, servicing many floors within large buildings, a more intensive regime of visits is necessary.

Whatever the maintenance routine, it is always essential to provide safe and easy access to elevator and lift machinery and plant. This is a primary responsibility for any PCBU (Person in Charge of a Business or Undertaking).

The Work Health and Safety Act 2011 states: "A person conducting a business or undertaking must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that the health and safety of other persons is not put at risk from work carried out as part of the conduct of the business or undertaking."

Your Requirements

Due to elevators and lifts being such an integral part of most buildings' accessibility, the time spent maintaining them is an essential part of your Duty of Care.

Usually the machinery for lifts and elevators is in small machine rooms with the the equipment being hard or almost impossible to reach. For personnel performing the work this can be far from an ideal location in which to maneouvre.

Moreover, the installation of the appropriate access systems can be difficult, given the small footprints or lack of available space.

Systems to provide access to the machinery rooms must be compact, sturdy and adaptable. Stairs, elevated walkways and access platforms are the types of equipment that are commonly used for this purpose. Additionally, the access systems must be simple and easy to use and give the maintenance personnel the ability to perform their tasks with ease.

Your Solution

KOMBI Stairs, Platforms and Elevated Walkways offer the perfect access solution for technicians and maintenance personnel. KOMBI Access Systems can be manufactured and assembled into countless configurations and adjusted on-site, in situ using basic hand tools and non-specialist trades.
